AlgaSpring: the producer
AlgaSpring is the European number one producer of the marine micro-algae or marine phytoplankton Nannochloropsis gaditana.
AlgaSpring has a 1.3 hectare (4 acres) photobioreactor system. Our production facility is in Flevoland in the Netherlands.
We have a dedicated team of professionals with a broad range of expertise to ensure a continuous production at high the quality standards for food and aquaculture production.
Our headquarters and fully equipped research laboratory is located in Almere. Our main production location and larger scale test facilities are in a pristine environment bordering the lake Markermeer, in a part of The Netherlands with clean air and water.
Our NannoStar (aquaculture) NutriSpring (food) products are 100% Dutch quality marine phytoplankton Nannochloropsis gaditana and produced in a pristine location at the banks of the Markermeer at the edge of the largest protected natural area of the Netherlands: Oostvaardersplassen. Our phytoplankton is grown on ancient seawater (Pleistocene 130.000 years old) which is free of contamination and heavy metals. The seawater is ancient borehole water and extracted from deep below the surface.
Our production system is environmentally friendly and no pesticides or herbicides are used. We use selected, natural algal strains and pure water and nutrient sources. Production batches are continuously monitored for quality control.
Our microalgae are cultivated in a mono-specific culture under controlled conditions in a semi-continuous process with optimum provision of nutrients, CO2, light and mixing. Cultivation and processing conditions are standardized which ensures a constant quality and a high content of valuable components in the microalgae product. The quality of our products is ensured by our HACCP based quality systems which are frequently externally audited by Veritas. AlgaSpring is as producer GMP+ certified. The NutriSpring marine phytoplankton powder is Kosher certified.
The microalgae are produced with just daylight and no additional heating other than to keep the production facility frost free during the winter. Our marine climate zone with cool summers and mild winters ensures us of year round production at the best nutritional quality.
Only pure and natural conditions ensure the phytoplankton can grow naturally and build up it’s healthy nutrients the way it should be.
